The Dark Night

In the dark night, I'd lost the light
that I was so used to seeing.
And that darkness came in heaviness
to threaten my very being.

But what I did not know,
but now so sweetly do,
God had it planned out all along, He said,
"Child, I'm doing this for you."

"I have to separate you from the sin
you've come to cherish so,
I have to let you see it all
‘til you're willing to let go."

"And once I've finished that part,
The Dark Night of the Soul,
there's yet another painful step
and a blessing to bestow."

"In the Dark Night of your spirit,
I'll crucify your flesh,
I'll separate the ‘self' in you
and let you start afresh----

So MY life, love and wisdom
is in you each and every hour,
So MY life flows unhindered through you,
in Holy Spirit power."

"So don't despair my precious one,
I'm doing this for you.
I'm doing this so I'LL be the life
in all you say and do."

"And I do this for mine own sake,
for the glory I'll receive,
because then you'll not just have heard of me
but with eyes of faith you'll see."

"You'll see my face and know me,
and know that I am Love,
and that I've prepared a home for you
in eternal joy above."

"So take heart dearest child of mine,
it's not so long you see,
‘til I come in all my glory
to take you home with me."
